This five-day training programme builds essential knowledge and practical skills to support the mental health and psychosocial well-being of migrants in vulnerable and displacement contexts.

Participants learn trauma-informed, culturally responsive approaches, conduct psychosocial assessments, and develop evidence-based support strategies through interactive, scenario-based exercises aligned with international best practices.

Learning Outcomes

  • Identify and describe the main factors that influence migrants’ mental wellbeing, including emotional, social, cultural, and environmental determinants.
  • Explain the nature and impact of psychological trauma associated with migration experiences across different contexts (departure, transit, reception).
  • Apply knowledge of professional roles and responsibilities in providing trauma-informed psychosocial support to migrant populations, using guided exercises and case scenarios.
  • Collaborate with peers and community stakeholders in structured activities to assess and respond to the psychosocial needs of migrants in vulnerable contexts.
  • Analyse case scenarios, using provided frameworks and guided examples, to identify psychosocial stressors, coping mechanisms, and support needs of migrants.
  • Interpret behavioural responses in relation to cultural conflict and acculturation processes, based on guided case studies discussed in class.
